Back out on the bay / Emirates Team New Zealand / America’s Cup

The Emirates Team New Zealand AC72 was back out on San Francisco bay today for the first time this week.

In typical local conditions the team was on the water mid morning in light but building breeze, running through a range of drills and tests culminating in some high speed downwind runs down the northern side of the bay.

Still high on the list of things to do is getting to know the conditions on the bay, this week is different to the last as Grant Dalton explains. “The tide is going out now and really the first week or so we had the tide coming in so the look is a bit different, the waves are a bit more but nothing dramatic. I think we saw 20 knots on the dial today so it was just more of the same out there.”

It is a busy week on the America’s Cup racecourse. Not only are the three AC72’s vying for space out there, but so are over 70 top international kite boarders all competing in the North American kite boarding Championship.
