Sunday, 16 June, ISTANBUL (Turkey): Arif Al Zaffain and Mohammed Al Marri bounced back after their retirement from race 1 yesterday to post the fastest time in this morning’s qualifying session for race 2 of the Isiklar Turkish Grand Prix.
In a revised format of 45minutes of official practice followed by a one hour qualifying session, it was clear that the defending Champions suffered no ill-effects after yesterdays’ two dramatic hooks and aerial spin-outs that eventually forced them out of race 1, posting the best time of the session, 2min 51.92s on their first of two laps.
Race 1 retirees, Luca Formilli Fendi and Giovanni Carpitella went second quickest in LFFendi10 with yesterday’s winners, Darren Nicholson and Ross Willaton in third.
Zabo-Isiklar’s Ugur Isik and Christian Zaborowski, who finished second yesterday, failed to get out on the water for the one hour session, so for the second time in two days will be on the back foot and will start from the outside of the starting line.
After yesterdays’ podium-third, Miles Jennings and Alfredo Amato maintained their steady form and will start from fifth behind Team Abu Dhabi, and ahead of FA.RO ACCIAI and Poliform.
