The Basque Country in Spain will host the Bilbao World SUP Challenge this weekend in its dramatic City Center of Bilbao.

Opening on the 21st June, this coming Friday, competition will begin in earnest on Saturday 22nd with the long distance race set against the backdrop of one of Europe’s most striking Cities. This will then be followed by the iconic World Series Sprint Racing that will draw in the crowds on the Sunday, bringing some of the most dramatic spectacles in the sport to this equally dramatic City.

Beyond the World Class racing, there will also be something for everyone, as Amateur and Youth Divisions are open to all for this inaugural edition of the Bilbao World SUP Challenge, as the Basque Country of Spain opens its arms to the Stand Up Community.

From Ratings leader Connor Baxter (Starboard) and current World number 3 Casper Steinfath (Naish) to current World Number 4, Zane Schweitzer (Starboard) and Leonard Nika (Starboard), current World Number 6, the World’s best will be putting it all on the line this weekend for the win at Stop 4 of the 2013 Stand Up World Series and stop 2 of the European Trilogy.

Also to watch out for will be the women, with 2012 World Champion and winner at the last event in Oleron Annabel Anderson (Starboard) looking to continue her winning streak. However she will have to overcome leading European lights such as Olivia Piana (Fanatic) from France amongst many other leading European athletes.
