Red Bull Youth America's Cup Selection Series - Forced of the Water by Weather

A cold front with winds gusting above 20 knots swept through San Francisco today and forced the six teams taking part in the second selection series for the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup off the water.
As an alternative, the approximately 40 sailors met with ORACLE TEAM USA sailors such as Ben Ainslie, who talked to them about what’s required to succeed on an AC45.

“If there’s any boat where it’s really about teamwork, I think it’s these boats because they’re so physically demanding,” said Ainslie, who placed second at last October’s America’s Cup World Series San Francisco. “You really need to be backing each other up. Communication needs to be very good. If one line in the process falls down, the whole thing can turn into a disaster so it really takes good teamwork and backing up your teammates.”

Weather permitting the youths will take to the water tomorrow for their first sail aboard the AC45s.
