Soaked in practice / America's Cup

There was great practice action on San Francisco Bay today, with Artemis Racing, Luna Rossa Challenge and ORACLE TEAM USA all on the water. ORACLE TEAM USA had its two boats out for some in-house testing, while the two challenger teams were running through drills in anticipation of next week’s semifinal round of the Louis Vuitton Cup, the America’s Cup Challenger Series.

RELATED STORY Louis Vuitton Cup Semifinals one week away

Artemis Racing and Luna Rossa were scheduled to sail tomorrow the final round robin race of the Louis Vuitton Cup, but neither team will take the start line. Previously, Artemis Racing had said it won’t be ready to compete until Aug. 6, the start of the semifinals. Today, Luna Rossa advised the race committee that it won’t be on hand either.

The winner of the semifinals advances to meet Emirates Team New Zealand in the Louis Vuitton Cup Final, beginning Aug. 17. Emirates Team New Zealand won the round robin portion of the regatta and elected to advance straight to the final in order to carry out modifications on its AC72 Aotearoa.

The next scheduled race is set for Tuesday, Aug. 6, between Artemis Racing and Luna Rossa Challenge. The start time is scheduled at 1:10 pm PT.
