FENDI RACING TARGET HOME WIN IN TERRACINA / Class 1 World Powerboat Championship

Thursday, 18 July: Fendi Racing will travel just two kilometres from their team headquarters at Nautica Badino for the next Grand Prix intent on marking the first Class 1 Grand Prix to be held in Terracina (18-20 October) with their first win.

The Mediterranean Grand Prix was officially launched at a press conference earlier this week in Terracina attended by UIM president Dr Raffaele Chiulli, Maria Pescante former president of the IOC, H2O racing sport director Marco Sala and event organiser Emilio Sardellitti. “The win is always our target and we are not far away from it,” said LFF10 throttleman Giovanni Carpitella. “We still have some work to do and some improvements to make, but what better place to get the win than at our home Grand Prix.”

Team owner-driver Luca Formilli Fendi and Carpitella have been threatening to climb the top podium step, finishing on the podium seven times in nine outings at the last five Grands Prix, and will be hoping to add their names to a sparce list of Italian winners on home waters.

In the last 22-years 15 Italian cities have hosted Class 1 with national success limited to just six; Matteo Nicolini took the chequered flag last year in Cernobbio, with Nicolini, Guido Cappellini and Montavoci credited with wins the year before following the DQ of Victory. Prior to that, you have to turn back the clock to Tarranto in 1997 (E Polli/Leoni), Gallipoli in 1995 (Ferrari/V Polli) and Pescarra in 1992 (Gioffredi/Bonommi) to find Italian success.
