The
writing was on the wall many months ago when RB12 was cancelled and a similar
event RB11 organised by Dean Gibbs was pulled a year before. Both suffered an
identical problem, lack of entries - A race of massive proportions in terms of
costs was always going to face an uphill struggle in the current economic
climate.
When
Cowes-Monte Carlo was first announced a lot of people put their names on the dotted
line almost oblivious of the fact they couldn't afford it but in the early
stages it was, to a lot of these pipe-dreamers being part of a great adventure.
Sure there are a few, we believe thirteen who have committed themselves
financially and who can afford it.
While
we at Raceboat International have not publicly supported the race, we naturally
have been following its progress.
We
have nothing but admiration for Mike Lloyd and his small team for attempting to
fulfil an ambition, but from the early stages, the team would be attempting to
achieve their Champagne ambition on a Bus Pass budget.
The
Cowes to Monte Carlo Event needed a high profile sponsor to achieve their goal
and in these austere times, that was not forthcoming.
We
understand there may be some parties attempting to put together a rescue
package and the race still could happen in June 2013.

Sad to see happen, a sign of the economy.
