2013 Calema Midwinters Festival warms up to the wind and cold

Kelly Park, Merritt Island, FL (March 3, 2013) - The 2013 Calema Midwinters Festival was not short on exciting windsurfing action despite the cold and windy weather.   The event in its 27th year continued its tradition bringing together World Cup Pros, Olympic Class Competitors, Beginner sailors and all other levels in between.  Featured as part of the event were the KONA National Championships as well as the TECHNO 293 North American.

96 competitors in all from around the globe competed in this event, as winds came up on the final day of competition with gusts up to 40 mph and temperature dropping in the afternoon causing everyone to bundle up on and off the water.  Regardless, spirits remained high as the competition continued throughout the day.

"Sailors from Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Canada, USA, Israel, Spain and Sweden all having a great time - international relations are GREAT when windsurfing is involved!" said Tinho Dornellas owner of Calema Windsurfing and Watersports
