Greek Women's RS:X sailor Angeliki Skarlatou has been a regular on the Olympic circuit since July 1994 and after a post London 2012 break she's getting back to business.

"I needed at least a year off RS:X after London 2012 and I focused on my work as a personal trainer in Athens," commented Skarlatou.

"I competed in a PWA Slalom event and in the Formula windsurfing class finishing second at the Worlds in Croatia 2013 but my mind was always on another campaign, this time Rio and I decided that Mallorca 2014 was a good time to start racing."

Skarlatou finished 12th at London 2012, her third Olympic Games and her best result after a 23rd at Atlanta 1996 and a 21st at Sydney 2000.

She made her first appearance at an international event in her home nation at the 1994 IYRU Nautica Youth Worlds, now ISAF Youth Worlds. In Marathon, Greece she finished 12th racing alongside Sydney 2000 Olympic Games silver medallist Amelie Lux.

Twelve European Championships and 16 World Championship appearances followed as she established herself as a regular in the Women's Olympic Windsurfing fleet.

With many years of hard work, dedication and training to the sport she loves the Greek racer is happy to be back, "I have been training in the RS:X for six months and yes I have missed it. I realized that even more after arriving in Palma from Athens and seeing everyone at the boat park again.

"I feel fresh to go full on till 2016."

Skarlatou will head to the RS:X Europeans next and then on to Santander, Spain as she bids to qualify Greece for a Rio 2016 Women's RS:X spot.

Racing in the Women's RS:X at ISAF Sailing World Cup Mallorca - Trofeo Princesa Sofia commences at 11:00 local time on Monday 31 March and will come to a climax on Saturday 5 April. Sailing World Cup Website
