Biddle and Blumenstein Survive Pertemps charge in Torquay to lift UK title - P1 Superstock

Despite racing to 5 victories in this seasons nine-race P1 SuperStock Championship John Wilson and Daisy Coleman in their Pertemps-backed boat could could only stand and applaud at todays podium presentation in Torquay as the American duo of Andy Biddle and Tracy Blumenstein were crowned as the UK National Champions.

Wilson went into this weekends five-race series showdown on the calm waters of Torbay knowing that his disastrous weekend in the previous round in Plymouth meant that the title was out of his reach. “My aim this weekend was to wipe away the bad memories of Plymouth and come out on top in Torquay.” said a smiling John Wilson “Daisy and I have ended the season in great style and shown what we can do, so know the planning begins for 2014 regaining the title I won in 2011.”

The popular American’s did all they had to do throughout the weekend to retain their championship lead and their cautious approach paid off as they finished 11 points clear of second placed P1 Marine Foundation. They will now have only a short time to celebrate as they head back to Florida’s Space coast to compete in the next round of P1 SuperStock USA Championship. “We worked on the maths for this weekends packed programme of races and our number one aim was to keep out of the mix and pick up points in every race.” said a jubilant Biddle

Like the American pairing, Welshman James Norvil races on both sides of the Atlantic and this busy schedule seems to have paid off with him recording his first P1 SuperStock victoy in the opening race of the weekend and then following up with three runner up finishes. These consistent performances in the Devon sunshine saw him climb to second place in the 2013 Championship.

Having started the second day in Torquay in second equal place in the Championship, the Oval Team of Nick Williams and Martin Robinson ended the season in 4th despite a hat-trick of podium finishes.
The Cornhill, Typhoo and One hull of a boat teams all featured at some stage at the front end of the weekends racing, as the new race format involving a long ‘pit’ lap added to the uncertainty and drama.

Round 3 Torquay Championship Points: Pertemps 97 pts, P1 Marine Foundation 82 pts, MBY Allam Marine 72 pts, Oval 71 pts, Typhoo 65 pts, Cornhill FX 64 pts, One Hull of a Boat 48 pts.
