Exciting Surf Conditions Greet Paddlers for the Florida State Paddleboard Championship – Cocoa Beach FL

About 60 intrepid athletes competed today in the Florida State Paddleboard Championship (FSPBC) in Cocoa Beach, FL.  The FSPBC an annual event is held in conjunction with the Easter Surf Festival, a four day event that draws 15,000 to 20,000 spectators daily.

The spectator friendly event organized by the Cocoa Beach Surf Museum once again proved to be exciting as the paddlers negotiated rough 4-5 foot surf in various watercraft to include outrigger canoes, surf skis, prone paddleboards and standup paddleboards at the start and the finish of the 7 mile open ocean course at the famous Cocoa Beach Pier.

As with all ocean events in the Cocoa Beach area it was once again good to see the Cocoa Beach Fire Department provided on water ocean rescue support with their PWC and rescue sleds. Special Aquatic Service had the pleasure of teaching their first PWC rescue class.
