The origin of the name Pipeline / Surfer Today

The origin of the name Pipeline: Pipeline got its name after being ridden for the first time by Phil Edwards, in 1961. He was traveling with legendary filmmaker Bruce Brown and surfboard shaper Mike Diffenderfer.
