In one of the finest ‘Big Boat’ battles ever witnessed Cintron, Gasse and Geico all held the lead on several occasions it was an immense spectacle. Miss GEICO slotted into third eventually after a bolt sheared on the rudder, causing them to lose speed.
Last year in Sarasota, Geico’s million-dollar boat was destroyed in a fire during testing just days before competition.
“We did a whole lot better than last year,” said throttle man Scott Begovich. “We're really happy just to know we're out here again with a winning boat to run with the big boys.
Begovich cites the broken rudder as the reason for their final position in the race as the team was beaten by Gasse and first-place winner Cintron who were later penalised for taking out a turn mark promoting Gasse to top podium spot. Read more; Planet Powerboat
