Super Boat International to Sanction Powerboat Race in Port Charlotte

KEY WEST, FL (May 18, 2013) – Super Boat International (SBI) is proud to announce the addition of the Charlotte Harbor Super Boat Grand Prix for the 2014 race season.

Founder and President of Super Boat International, John Carbonell, comments on the new 2014 event, “We’ve had formal talks over the past few months with Mr. York and his organization about confirming this exciting event to our schedule. SBI is thrilled that we have come to this agreement and will be able to add Port Charlotte to our family of race cities. We know this will be a great venue, and could not be more pleased to be racing Florida’s beautiful Gulf Coast.”

Charlotte Harbor organization President Jerry York is excited that all his hard work has paid off. “I have been working on this deal for about two years. We finally got the contract signed with the county earlier this week, and then with SBI just yesterday. We are absolutely ecstatic about it. Now we can really get to racing. Our city and county are so pleased about it. So far I am getting tremendous support.”
