The Volvo Ocean Race is one of the toughest events in world sport and a human challenge like no other is now launching the search for a world class line-up of Onboard Reporters for the next edition of sailing's premier offshore race, which will start in late 2014 and finish in mid-2015.
We are looking for proven media story-tellers, people with the skills and determination to tell the real story of the race and its remarkable sailors via compelling video, audio, text and pictures captured on board in often ferocious conditions.
Typically, successful candidates will have track records as documentary film-makers, news reporters, ENG camera operators, photographers and producers.
Apart from a broad skill-set and a willingness to learn new techniques and ways of working, you will need to be in good physical condition and possess the positive outlook needed to thrive while spending weeks on end at sea.
Experience of working in extreme environments will be a big advantage and language skills could make a difference too.
If selected for training you will be required to spend five weeks at the Volvo Ocean Race headquarters in Alicante, Spain. Those approved will then be matched up with one of the teams for the pre-Race period plus the event itself.
If you think you've got what it takes, please send a cover letter and resume to reporters@volvooceanrace.com
