FENDI RACING TAKING EXHAUSTIVE MEASURES TO ERADICATE ANY TECHNICAL ISSUES

Monday, 2 September: Fendi Racing throttleman Giovanni Carpitella will get his first impressions of the proposed circuit for next months’ Mediterranean Grand Prix [18-20 October] when he joins H2O Racing’s sporting director Marco Sala and local organiser Emilio Sardellitti for a site visit in Terracina.

Carpitella and team owner-driver Luca Formilli Fendi sit in third spot in the title race behind leader’s Victory and HUB Team Australia, and will be bidding for their first win together since teaming-up in Abu Dhabi in 2010, but face the added pressure of being the home favourites.

The team continues to make improvements to LFF10, Carpitella and Formilli Fendi’s charge. “We have upgraded the engine electronics and changed the ECU to have a quicker response from the engine and to reduce fuel consumption,” said Carpitella.

But the niggling issue that remains is with their exhaust set-up, something that Carpitella hopes they have cured. “The new exhausts in Istanbul were great at 4500rpm and above, but below that were a nightmare,” he said. “In both races it cost us a good start and we got bogged down losing places. We have made further adjustments and to the engine room and depending on conditions can move the position of the engines. So we shall see in Terracina.”

Carpitella also has responsibility for their number two boat and hinted that he will be keeping a closer eye on things after it finished both races in Istanbul 400kgs above the minimum weight.

What he is hoping for in October is rough conditions saying that ‘in the rough we can have a ‘spectacular race’.

The team is yet to confirm the line-up of the number two boat, LFF8.
