4th Annual Surfguys SUP Challenge – June 8th – Melbourne, FL : WPA Region 5 South East

One week away, the Annual Surfguys SUP Challenge was founded with the  idea of continuing to give into our community, and promote the SUP racing way of life. The idea was crafted by George “The Surfguy” Jones as a new way to promote a SUP only event.  In our first year we had all racers in both divisions combined for a 3 mile event, then we decided to separate into 2 classes which gave each racer a more fair level of competition and used the WPA guidelines as a template.  More; 4th Annual Surfguys SUP Challenge – June 8th – Melbourne, FL : WPA Region 5 South East

J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race / 10 per cent of the fleet finished in time for lunch...

The stream of finishers at Cowes is continuing to accelerate and Cowes Yacht Haven is beginning to fill up with boats that have completed the race.

At 1300, more than 150 boats had crossed the finish line, including the first finisher in the ISCRS division, led by Daniel Hardy’s Oyster 625 Lady Mariposa, who crossed the line at 1205. The Oyster Lightwave 48 Scarlet Oyster, one of the five boats sailing with the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, finished a few minutes later to the delight of lots of very excited young people on board. She was followed a little later by Coral of Cowes, Richard Oswald’s stunning 100ft gaff schooner built in 1902 – a fabulous sight as she crossed the finish in glorious sunlight.

Three ASP WCT Withdraw From Volcom Fiji Pro Due To Injury

COOLANGATTA, QLD/Australia (Saturday, June 1, 2013) - Owen Wright (AUS), Tiago Pires (PRT) and Raoni Monteiro (BRA) have withdrawn from the Volcom Fiji Pro due to injury and have been replaced by Yadin Nicol (AUS), Heitor Alves (BRA) and Alex Gray (USA).

Wright sustained a back injury earlier this season at the Rip Curl Pro Bells. Wright finished 2012 ranked No. 10 on the ASP World Championship Tour and started 2013 with a hard fought win at the ASP 4-Star Breaka Burleigh Pro, but went on to finish equal 25 at the opening two stops on this year’s WCT.

This will be the second event in a row the young goofy-footer will miss due to injury, but he’s working hard to make sure he’s fit and ready for the inaugural Oakley Bali Pro.

“I’ve had to withdraw from the Volcom Fiji Pro due to an on going back injury that happened at Bells,” Wright said. “I’m working hard and should be ready for the event at Keramas, Bali.”
